University of Texas at Austin Summer Opportunities

The University of Texas at Austin offers numerous opportunities for high school students to experience life as a longhorn. Most sessions average 5 days and include living in the dorms with other high school students. Programs include areas such as:

  • American Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive This four-week session is geared towards intermediate/advanced dancers (age 12-17) and is taught by faculty from both American Ballet Theatre and UT. Grades: 9-12 |
  • Careers in Engineering for Women This weeklong summer camp is open to girls in 6th and 7th grade who have an interest in learning more about math, science and engineering through hands-on experiences. Grades: 7-9 | Engineering
  • Cinema/Television Summer Camp Hosted by the Austin Film Festival's Young Filmmakers Program and UT's Radio-Television-Film Department, this camp offers special film and writing courses for young people ages 9-17.
  • First Bytes Introductory Computer Sciences Summer Camp for Girls This one-week residential camp program for high school girls is designed to dispel myths about computer science and intrigue young women with the potential of computing.
  • Global Ethics and Conflict Resolution Summer Symposium This weeklong symposium held on the UT campus centers around exploring conflict and discovering effective resolution at all levels—from the personal to the international.
  • Longhorn Music Camp This summer music program nurtures musicianship and artistic growth, while encouraging continuing education by providing an exciting and rewarding camp experience. Grades 7-12 |
  • Longhorn Sports Camps UT offers camps covering a wide variety of sports for young athletes who want to build upon their skills or learn a completely new sport. Grades: Varies by camp |
  • MITE: Introduction to Engineering This five-day residential summer camp lets high school sophomores and juniors discover engineering through hands-on experience and interaction with students, faculty, staff and alumni. Grades: 10-11 |
  • Summer Technology Camps for Kids Sponsored by UT Informal Classes, these camps offer kids aged 7-17 a hands-on opportunity to learn about creating video games, producing digital movies, designing Web sites and more. Subject: Computers | Grades: 2-12
