  • Prayer Requests:
    • Fr. Jose Lopez, on his thirtieth anniversary of ordination to the priesthood.
  • Mass: This morning at 7:15 a.m. in the Gorman chapel.
  • Fellowship of Christian Athletes: Meet this morning in room 105 at 7:25.
  • Sacrament of Reconciliation: This morning in the chapel from 7:45 - 8:15 a.m.
  • Pre-Med Club Field Trip To ETMC: Cancelled this morning.
  • Professional Forum: For all students at 9:35 today in the cafeteria. Thomas Awiapo, a survivor of poverty and hunger in his small Africa village because of the efforts of Catholic Relief Services, will be speaking to both the middle and high school.
  • Friday Food Fast: Today at lunch, middle and high school students and faculty will have the option of purchasing a meal of rice and beans in the cafeteria during their lunch period. All proceeds will go to Operation Rice Bowl.
  • HS PE Classes to Green Acres Bowl: Today during the fourth block.
  • Emerging Catholic School Leaders Conference: Finishes today in San Antonio with Lynne Reuter in attendance from Gorman.
  • Did You Know? An image of the Gorman front façade is in one of the stain-glassed windows in the Gorman chapel?
  • Parent Surveys Due Back: Today. Thank-you for taking the time to fill out the annual survey.
  • Yearbook Congratulations: The 2006-2007 Profile yearbook was recently recognized in the Yearbook Yearbook 2008. The Yearbook Yearbook is "an annual publication showcasing exceptional Taylor yearbooks from across the country. The publication displays outstanding examples of cover design, theme development and layout from middle school, high school and college yearbooks." Members of the 2006-2007 staff included: Erin Camp (editor), Chris Brunson, Davie Cox, Rebecca Harry, Brad Negem, Nicolas Ramirez, Will Richey, Patrick Russell, Marty Stocks, Jake Vinson, Jonathan Wies, and Matthew Cates (adviser).
  • Cheerleader Tryout Information: All completed Cheerleader Candidate packets and teacher recommendations are due to Coach Pety by February 20th. Candidates will not be allowed to begin Tryout Clinic without completed paperwork. Tryout Clinic ~ February 22, 26, & 27, Mock Tryouts ~ February 28, and Tryouts ~ February 29. All clinics and tryouts are closed to the public; only coaches, candidates, senior cheerleaders, and judges will be allowed during the sessions.

  • St. Vincent DePaul Garage Sale: Today and tomorrow at the St. Vincent DePaul Center.
  • Engineering Banquet: The Engineering Technical and Professional Societies of East Texas are again uniting to sponsor this annual meeting celebrating National Engineers' Week. All East Texas engineering and technical societies are encouraged to participate in this event. The banquet will allow nearly two hundred students and educators from our local high school and universities that are interested in engineering to meet practicing engineers. The dinner, free to students, will be held at LeTourneau University in the Assembly Building; registration begins at 5:30pm. The speaker is Steve McCoskey - Director of Developing Technologies at Eastman Chemical Company will discuss "Industrial Gasification in a Changing World." Contact Mrs. Manley for more information.
  • College to visit Gorman: A representative from the admissions office at University of Texas at Tyler will be on campus Monday, February 25th during junior/senior lunch.
  • Tyler Junior College Scholarship Application: Just a reminder that the 2008-2009 scholarship applications are due March 1, 2008. TJC has received an unusually high amount of acceptance forms sent in without an application. Top Ten students can not be awarded their scholarship until TJC has a completed application and acceptance form on file. Also, the application requires a letter of recommendation in addition to the counselor verification, from other faculty, employers, clergy etc. Follow this link for the application.
  • Tyler-Smith County Texas A&M Club Scholarship: It is the sole responsibility of the local club to be able to provide scholarships to local high school students attending as freshmen at TAMU. Applications for the 2008 Entering Freshman scholarship can be found in the outer office of the counseling office. Deadline for submission is May 1, 2008.
  • Student Introduction to Engineering (SITE) Summer Program: The University of Alabama College of Engineering offers a summer program designed to expose rising high school juniors and seniors with an interest in mathematics and science to the possibility of careers in engineering. The College of Engineering will host two week-long SITE sessions in July. More information can be found at this link and deadline to apply is May 1st, 2008.
  • Capstone Business Leadership Academy: This Academy is a 10-day residential summer program designed for academically exceptional rising high school seniors interested in a career in business. The Academy explores each of the business disciplines - accounting, finance, economics, marketing, management, management science, information systems. Scholarships are awarded for undergraduate study. The cost is #50 (all fees). Follow this link to the University of Alabama program. Deadline is March 15, 2008.
