    • Mrs. L Kiecke, mother of Kaye Fackrell, on the anniversary of her death.
    • Art Galletly, father of Howard Galletly, who is in the hospital in Ft. Worth following a fall.
    • Joe McBee, father-in-law of Howard Galletly, who is in the hospital in Tyler following a possible stroke.
  • Communion Service: This morning in the chapel at 7:40 a.m.
  • TAPPS Regional Music Solos and Ensembles: Today at Grace Community.
    • Crusader Band: Students will be out from 8:00 - 11:45 a.m. Teachers and staff can access the attached rosters. The Band competes at 9:00 a.m. then for sight reading at 9:25 a.m. The Jazz Band competes at 10:40. All concerts are at Grace Community Auditorium.
    • Crusader Choir: Will be dismissed today at 11:20 a.m. Teachers and staff can access the attached rosters. The Women's Choir willcompete in Sight Reading at 1:00 p.m., the entire choir sight reading at 2:00 p.m. and the Women's Pops at 3:15 p.m. all in the Grace Community Auditorium.
  • Finance Council: Meets today at 12 noon at TKG Conference Room.
  • Tyler Catholic School System Press Conference for Announcement of the New President, Dr. Charles LeBlanc: Today at 3 p.m. at the Cathedral Center.
  • Academic Council Meeting: Today at 3:45 p.m. in room 207.

  • Friday Food Fast: Last Friday, a total of 91 people participated and $234 was raised for Operation Rice Bowl. Special thanks to Bella Obach, Anita Sattler, Patti Jorgenson, Karen Goforth, Sara Dean, Patsy Cogdill, Kathy Renick-Bell, Sharon Brown, and Amy Cole for assisting in the Friday Food Fasted by cooking or serving the food. The next Food Fast is this Friday, February 29, 2008.
  • HS District Art Results: Congratulations to Gorman students who placed at the District Art contest Saturday.   • Eighth Grade Parent Meeting: There will be an eighth grade parent meeting Wednesday, February 27 @ 6:00 pm in the cafeteria to make plans for the dance/celebration that follows the eight grade commencement ceremony.   • Yearbook Congratulations: The 2006-2007 Profile yearbook was recently recognized in the Yearbook Yearbook 2008. The Yearbook Yearbook is "an annual publication showcasing exceptional Taylor yearbooks from across the country. The publication displays outstanding examples of cover design, theme development and layout from middle school, high school and college yearbooks." Members of the 2006-2007 staff included: Erin Camp (editor), Chris Brunson, Davie Cox, Rebecca Harry, Brad Negem, Nicolas Ramirez, Will Richey, Patrick Russell, Marty Stocks, Jake Vinson, Jonathan Wies, and Matthew Cates (adviser).

  • Accelerated Reader Update: Congratulations to the 8th grade for winning the AR Class Challenge. The 8th graders will enjoy a pizza lunch to celebrate their success in March. AR update: Please see attachment for details.

  • Lone Star Scholars Academy: Housed at Texas Lutheran University, the Lone Star Scholars Academy offers university-level courses for transferable college credit to academically gifted high school students like you. Each LSSA student will participate in one college-level course taught by select TLU faculty and area educators. Tuition, room, board, books, and all associated activity fees and materials costs are included in the price of $750 per session. Need-based scholarships ranging from $100-300 per session are available. Follow this link for more information.
  • Sail Caribbean: Sail Caribbean is a summer adventure camp for teenagers. Since 1979, they have lead thousands on summer adventures focusing on learning, leadership and personal growth at their teen sailing camps, scuba camps, marine biology camps and community service camps. Living aboard yachts, teens develop seamanship skills in the British Virgin Islands, Leeward and Windward Islands. Follow this link for further information.
  • Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship: The Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary will be awarding college/university scholarships for the upcoming fall semester. Applications can be found in Mrs. Manley's office and must be post marked by April 10, 2008. Applicants must be members of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, St. Paul, St. Mary Magdalene, Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Bonafice or St. Peter Claver.
  • Reminder of scholarship deadlines coming up soon: East Texas Communities Foundation , Tyler Junior College General Scholarship , Faulconer Scholarship Program all of which are for residents of Smith county.
  • College Visit: A representative from Centenary College of Louisiana will be here on Thursday, February 28th during Junior/Senior lunch.
