  • Retirement of John Carney: After four decades of coaching at Bishop Gorman, Coach John Carney has announced retirement. Coach’s Carney’s service in the Tyler Catholic School System is unparalleled; he has coached basketball, softball, and football in the parish setting, in the Catholic schools, and in the greater community. Coach Carney’s service to the school has been outstanding. The school wishes him well in his retirement.

  • Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul: All students, parents and friends are invited to write their name and a simple prayer, scripture quote, their school, hobby etc. on a "living stone" to be buried in the foundation of the new Sts. Peter and Paul Chapel on the Gorman campus. The Cathedral Community will celebrate the Feats of Sts. Peter and Paul with a ground and “living stone” blessing on the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul, June 29, 2008 at 3:00 p.m.

  • Mueller to Attend Congressional Student Leadership Conference: Congratulations to Class of 2009 student Michael Mueller who has been selected to attend the 2008 Congressional Student Leadership Conference on Medicine and Healthcare, sponsored by LeadAmerica. The GSLC is a leadership program for academically talented and promising young leaders.
  • Booster Club Needs:

  • MS Chess Club Sponsor Needed: The middle school chess club is in need of a sponsor for next school year. The club meets one morning each week before school. This is a good way for parents/guardians to earn service hours. You do not have to be a chess player to provide safe supervision. Ethics and Integrity training is necessary.   • Band Trip to St. Louis School: A group of band students will be going to the St. Louis School on Wednesday, July 2nd for a Patriotic Concert. The Band will meet at American Band Instrument Service at 11:00 a.m. on July 2nd for practice, then will go to CiCi's Pizza on the West Loop for lunch (bring $7.50) . The group will arrive at the St. Louis School at 1:00. The Concert is 1:30 and will be finished by 2:00 p.m. Dress will be red, white and blue casual (with the usual no hats and tucked in shirts.) This trip can count for HS service hours.
