  •  Prayer Intentions
    • Katie Braquet ('01) and Skylar Clarkston ('01), who will be married today.
  • Varsity HS Sports: Practice continues with two-a-days today.
  • New Teacher Inservice: Today from 9-noon.  Yesterday the group heard from Mrs. Fran Traweek on teaching effectiveness at Gorman.
  • High School Band Practice: Today from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. for flute and clarinets. Football players are reminded to come by the band hall after football practice to pick up  music and run-through a few things.
  • HS (JV/V) Volleyball Scrimmages: Today versus Brook Hill at 5:00 and 6:00 in the Milam Joseph Center.
  • Cheerleader Congratulations: The Gorman Varsity Cheerleading Squad completed their 4 day UCA Cheerleading Camp at Texas A&M University yesterday.  The camp consisted of over 900 cheerleaders and TKG competed in the same division as many of the larger schools who have All Star Cheer teams; for example, McArthur HS, Alamo Heights HS, Tomball HS, etc.  The girls were able to very competitive with these teams.  The girls received "Superior" ribbons every day of camp during evaluations; in addition, they received the "Superior" trophy at the conclusion of camp yesterday as well. The Crusader Squad received the spirit stick two out of 3 days.  Freshman Bella Aldredge, received All Star Cheerleader for 2008.  Not only did the TKG girls learn new dances, ideas for pep rallies, cheers, but they attended classes that sharpened their skills and learned some new, impressive and more difficult stunts.  
  • HS Students Preview Schedules: Tomorrow, August 9, 2008, HS students and their parents are invited to preview the 2008-09 student schedules.  Suggested times are:
    • Class of 2009: 9:00 - 10:30
    • Class of 2010: 10:30 - 12 noon
    • Class of 2011: 1:00 - 2:00
    • Class of 2012: 2:00 - 3:00
  • Sports Program Deadline Extension: To help busy parents, the deadline for the sports program has been extended to August 14th. All ads must be in by this date. If you have any question please call Robyn Hillin at 903-216-7793 or e-mail at robhillin@aol.com.
  • Looking Ahead to Next Week:
    • Welcome Back Fair: Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 6:00 p.m..  The Fair will begin in the Haddad HS Gym.  Parents and guardians will have an opportunity to learn more about many school organizations including Booster Club, Parent-Teacher Organization, Student Council, Academic and Fine Arts Advisory as well as other opportunities for involvement.
    • New Family Pot-Luck: Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 5:00 p.m before the Welcome Back Fair.
