Freshman Lakesha Milton, above, displays the veritable diamond (.5 carat) she unearthing on the Biology Club's field trip to Crater of Diamonds State Park this past weekend. Lakeesha has discussed donating her treasure to the Gorman Teacher's Retirement Fund.

- RAD Classes for HS Girls PE: Beginning this week, students in the girls' high school physical education clkasses will receive training in the Rape, Aggression Defense System (RAD). RAD is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The RAD. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. The course is taught by a trained instructor.

- Groundhog Day Applications for Juniors Available: The Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring their Annual Ground Hog Job Show Day on Tuesday, February 3, 2009. Any 11th grade student who is interested in participating will need to complete the application and parental consent form and return them to Mr. Newton no later than November 21, 2008.
- MS PSIA Tryout Soon: All Middle school students are eligible to participate in Private School Interscholastic Association (PSIA) competitions on the Gorman team. Students perform in a variety of academic and arts competitons in a district meet on February 28, 2009 on the Gorman campus to qualify for the state meet in early May. Event areas include: mathematics, number sense, calculator, science, maps, spelling, vocabulary, dictionary skills, prose interpretation, modern oratory, ready writing, on-site drawing as well as others. Students are not required to particpate. Participation does not affect any gardes in any classes. Students may try out for multiple events. Please contact Mrs. Breedlove for more information.
