Gorman: Celebrating Fifty Years 1958-2008

  • Pilgrimage For Life: The Gorman Pro-Life Club will be participating in the Pilgrimage for Life in Huntsville today.  Following Mass celebrated by His Eminence Daniel Cardinal DiNardo of Galveston Houston at the St. Thomas Catholic Church, the Gorman students will join an estimated crowd of over 500 pilgrims who will  then participate in a one-mile prayerful procession, led by the Cardinal, from an abortion referral center to the Texas death chamber, where executions take place. The Pilgrimage for Life is an opportunity for participants to reflect on the life and dignity of the human person from conception to natural death.

  • Thanksgiving Holidays: The TKG Thanksgiving holidays will begin at 12:20 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, November 25, 2008.  Extended care will be available (including lunch) at Gorman until 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.  No classes on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 through Friday, November 28, 2008.  Students return to class on Monday, December 1, 2008.
  • TAPPS District 2-4A Fan Guidelines: Approved recently by all schools in TAPPS Distruict 2-4A are attached.
  • Accelerated Reader Update: See attachment of rweekly update.  Congratulations to the 6th grade readers once again.  Together they have scored the second win of the AR Class Challenge in record time.  They have earned a second free lunch plus a planetarium visit at TJC Hudnall Planetarium.
  • Holy Family Library New Arrivals:  See attached list for individual titles.  Circulation is open to families as well.
  • TKG ScoreBoard
    • JV Girls Basketball at Eustace Tournament: 5th Place - Breat Westowood in overtime 28-25 and beat Quitman 43-41 earlier.
    • V Girls Basketball swept Brookshire Tournament beating Grace in the finals 58-24.
  • ACT Prep Workshop: Monday, December 1, 2008 from 5:30 - 9:00 p.m. at Grace Community High School.  The workshop, costing $30, is led by Chad Cargill of Cargill Consulting.  Register early or walk-ins welcome.
  • Angel Tree: "A Giving Community."  The Middle School Student Council and National Junior Honor Society are working on a joint project for the "giving" season.   Students, faculty, staff and families are invited to select an angel from the "Angel Tree" benefitting the families in our community who are less fortunate than we are.  The angels will be available for adoption during the middle school lunch periods.  An information sheet with instructions for gift purchases and labeling will be attached to your "angel" card.  Gifts will need to be returned to our Angel Tree by December 5. Thank you for your help Our school community can help make a difference during this holiday season.
  • Vocations Discernment Program: The Diocese of Tyler is offering a Vocation Discernment Program for boys from 10:30 - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2008.  For more information or to tegister, contact Fr. Jesse Arroyave at frarroyave@dioceseoftyler.org.
