Admission Criteria

Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Catholic School admits students of all racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds except those with severe learning difficulties.

All of the following may be used in the admissions decision:

  • Current school record
  • Standardized testing
  • Student's academic potential
  • Motivation to attend Bishop T. K. Gorman Catholic School
  • Family's religion
  • Student's discipline record
  • Other family members who currently attend, have attended or are employed by the Tyler Catholic School System

Note:

All students new to Gorman or seeking re-admission will be admitted on academic and discipline probation for two full grading period (a minimum of twelve weeks.) Any serious violation of the academic or discipline codes will be subject to a review by the school administration; the student may subsequently receive an extension of the probation or dismissal. If a student is granted admissions and at a later date it becomes known that admissions information was inaccurate or withheld, the student will be subject to immediate dismissal.
