The Academic Program
- Ask about the school's academic reputation
- Ask how many of the teachers have advanced degrees
- Ask about a college-preparatory curriculum
- Ask about the average College Board scores
- Ask what percent of graduates go on to college
- Ask about class options: does the school have classes to help both gifted and average students
- Ask about tutoring and availability of teachers to help
- Ask about scheduling (traditional, block, modular)
- Ask about media and technology resources
- Ask about standardized testing averages
- Ask about critical thinking skills in the curriculum
- Ask about the range of teaching methodologies
- Ask about national recognition
The Extracurricular Activities
- Ask about the variety of activities a school offers
- Ask when clubs and activities meet
- Ask how easy it is for students who have similar interests to start a new club
- Ask about activities for someone with your interests
- Ask about interscholastic records in extracurricular competitive activities
- Ask about class trips and field trip destinations
The Religious Nature of a School
- Ask about student retreats
- Ask about student prayer services and masses
- Ask about the Christian nature of the school
- Ask about the involvement and the extent of community service
- Ask about the campus ministry department
- Spend time at the school to see how the students treat each other
- Spend time on campus to see how teachers treat students
